NEON Global Research Examples
Secondary research to evaluate best practices in "Worksite Wellness" programs.

To guide development of future "worksite wellness" programs Smith and Lehmann wanted to review of existing programs, determine trends, evaluate effectiveness, and develop recommendations for new programs. NEON Global Research was contracted to perform the research and analysis.
The research was conducted using two frameworks: one developed by the World Health Organization (providing a global strategy perspective, and the other by the Colorado Deparment of Public Health and Environment (providing a local direction perspective).
NEON's research looked at four different worksite wellness programs and compared them based on primary focus area, program, program requirements, program highlights, and reported results. In addition, 28 different publications were reviewed with regards to: source, study design, highlights/interventions, results and conclusions.
Primary and secondary research to understand the customer and competition for a new product in India

AYZH, a for profit business, develops products using new technologies for their customers worldwide. Their new design for a water filter has the potential to serve a large population in India. During the development of their water filter, several questions arose: What types of contaminants were found in their target market area? What were their potential customers using now? What would they like to see in a water filter? Who are the competitors? What are the water quality standards?
To answer these questions, AYZH contracted with NEON Global Research to do primary and secondary research on the ground in Tamil Nadu, India by interviewing 50 potential customers using a questionaire developed with local culture in mind. In addition, NEON performed secondary research on 13 different water filter techniques currently being used and compared them based on performance, features, durability, serviceability, aesthetics, advantages, disadvantages, and cost.
Finally, NEON researched the water testing standards in India and the water quality in Southern India.
Life Cycle analysis to compare two different types of pallets used in transportation

Green Ox produces shipping pallets that meet all international shipping regulations while at the same time are 100% recyclable thereby reducing the destruction of hard wood trees and landfill waste. Although intuitively this was a big advantage, Green Ox wanted hard data to quantify the environmental benefits. They contracted with NEON Global Research to complete a life cycle analysis of their corrugated paperboard pallet compared to a standard wood pallet.
A life cycle analysis is a technique to assess environmental impacts associated with all stages of a products life from cradle to grave. This includes things like material extraction through material processing, manufacture, distribution, use, repair and maintenance, and disposal or recycle. using an inventory of flow model considering flows to and from nature, the affects on the environment can be quantified.
With this analysis, Green Ox can clearly demonstrate to their customers what savings in environmental impact can be achieved using their products.
